Who we are

Gander ("we") runs the Gander app and website, a marketplace that connects people who want to see a place with nearby Ganders who go there and stream it live. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Email us at support@ganderapp.net.

Information we collect

Account details: your email address, name, and whether you use Gander as a requester, a Gander, or both.

Requests and sessions: the destinations you ask about, chat messages and images shared in a session, ratings, reports, and payment history.

Location: a Gander's precise location while they are online or traveling to a session, and the destination a requester picks. Requesters' own whereabouts are never tracked.

Payments: payments are processed by Stripe. We keep transaction records such as amounts and dates, but we never see or store full card numbers.

Device info: push notification tokens and basic device details that keep the app working.

Live video and audio

Sessions are streamed live between the requester and the Gander and are not recorded or stored by Gander. Chat messages and images shared around a session are stored so both sides can revisit them. Screenshots a requester chooses to take are saved to their own device.

How we use your information

We use your information to match requests with nearby Ganders, run live sessions, process payments and payouts, send service emails such as sign-in codes and receipts, keep the community safe through reports, blocks, and moderation, improve the service, and provide support.

What we share

We share information only with the service providers that run Gander: Stripe (payments and payouts), LiveKit (live video), Resend (email), Google Maps (addresses and street imagery), and Expo (push notifications). Each gets only what it needs.

The other participant in a session sees your first name and the details needed for that session. We never sell your personal information, and we only disclose it beyond this when the law requires it.

Your choices

Camera, microphone, location, and notification access are controlled in your device settings, and some features can't work without them. You can edit your account details in the app, and you can contact us any time about your data.

How long we keep data, and deleting it

We keep your information while your account is active. Some transaction records must be kept longer where tax and accounting laws require it. To delete your account and personal data, email support@ganderapp.net from the address on your account. We'll confirm and take care of it.

Age requirement

Gander is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the service.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll post the update here with a new date at the top. For significant changes we'll also let you know in the app.
